Origin
The Euphorbia erytrea, also known as African Milk Tree, has its roots in East Africa, mainly in areas such as Somalia and Ethiopia. The plant later spread to the rest of the world, primarily due to its unique aesthetic appeal and ability to adapt to various climates and environments.
Characteristics
The Euphorbia erytrea is an impressive houseplant known for its sculptural shape. With a height that can reach between 1 and 3 meters, the plant has fleshy stems with small, variegated green and yellow leaves. Although it is considered a succulent, it looks more like a tree, with branches forming a striking cross pattern. Unlike other Euphorbia species, this plant rarely blooms indoors.
Care
The Euphorbia erytrea requires little maintenance, adding to its popularity as an indoor plant. Like other succulents, this plant needs plenty of light, but can also thrive in partial shade. The plant needs a well-draining soil and moderate water. Overwatering can lead to rot, so it's essential to let the soil dry out between watering. Although it's resistant to most room temperatures, the Euphorbia erytrea performs best at temperatures between 15 and 22 degrees Celsius.
