Origin
The Epiphyllum oxypetalum, also known as the Queen of the Night, has its origin in the rainforest of Central and South America. It is also found in the Antilles and Mexico. In its natural habitat, it grows predominantly as an epiphyte in other trees.

Characteristics
This botanical beauty is characterised indoors by its striking green, flat leaves that resemble clovers. The flowers of the Epiphyllum oxypetalum are large and white in colour. What is special about this plant is that the flowers only bloom for one night and then emit a strong, sweet scent. The plant has a hanging growth habit and can grow up to two meters high.

Care
The care of the Epiphyllum oxypetalum requires some attention. It likes a bright place, but not in intense sun. It is also sensitive to temperature, the ideal temperature is between 18-28 degrees Celsius. During the growing season, water the plant regularly but let the soil dry out between each watering to prevent root rot. The water supply can be reduced during the winter period. Do not use fertilisers with a high nitrogen content, as they can inhibit blooming.
