The renovation of our hardware warehouse roof has recently started. This renovation goes together with the installation of over 1,000 new solar panels. This project is another step forward in our sustainability policy and our aim to be self-sufficient in energy as a company.
Complete use of green power
The panels were installed last month and are now being connected by installers to inverters that will convert the source of energy into usable power. We expect the new solar panels to be operational in December.
Together, the 1,049 new panels will generate around 279,000 kWh per year; that is about 46% of Nieuwkoop Europe's annual electricity consumption. Together with the 1,085 solar panels installed in 2019 with a capacity of 328,000 kWh per year, the total annual power consumption of Nieuwkoop Europe is supplied with green electricity.
Developments are happening rapidly
Technological developments in the solar industry are rapid and today's solar panels respond to both sunlight and UV daylight. This increases the efficiency considerably, because the solar panels produce energy even on a cloudy day.

Sustainable vision for the future
The installation of solar panels is a logical step in our transition to a more sustainable business. This move fits in well with our active environmental policy and our ISO 14001:2015 certification. The ISO 14001:2015 standard sets out the requirements of an efficient environmental management system that organizations can apply to optimize their environmental performance. At Nieuwkoop Europe we continue to consciously develop towards a more sustainable future, and together we contribute to a 'green' chain; from business operations to customers.
