Anthurium andraeanum 'Sierra'4/tray
Bush Red
4ANANBP15
Origin
The Anthurium andraeanum 'Sierra White' originates from the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. The plant is named after French botanist Édouard François André, who discovered the plant during an expedition in Colombia and Ecuador in the 19th century. The plant is also known as the Flamingo Plant.
Characteristics
The Anthurium andraeanum 'Sierra White' is an exotic plant with strikingly shiny white flowers. These are not actually flowers, but spathes that have a heart shape. The plant is characterised by its long flowering period, which can extend from spring to autumn. The 'flowers' act as shelters for the minuscule genuine flowers that are located on them.
Care
The Anthurium andraeanum 'Sierra White' prefers high humidity and does well in a bright position out of direct sunlight. Ensure that the soil remains consistently moist, but avoid overwatering, as this can cause root rot. The ideal temperature for this plant is between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius. As the plant favours a tropical climate, the leaves can be regularly sprayed with water to mimic high humidity.
