Origin
The Ctenanthe burle-marxii 'Amabilis' 4/tray is a plant species originally from the tropical rainforests of Brazil. It is named after the well-known Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle-Marx. This exotic plant is a member of the Maranataceae (Maranta) family and has since spread to various parts of the world.
Characteristics
The Ctenanthe burle-marxii 'Amabilis' has become a popular house plant due to its impressive appearance. It is characterised by its elegant, long, dark green leaves. These leaves have somewhat silver stripes and are abundantly covered with fine hairs. The plant grows to an average height of 40-50 cm and can show quite lush growth.
Care
In general, the Ctenanthe burle-marxii 'Amabilis' does not have many requirements for its environment, but it does prefer a warm, humid environment. The plant likes well-draining soil and regular, but moderate watering. Just like other tropical plants, it enjoys plenty of indirect light. The plant is not frost hardy and therefore needs to be kept indoors during winter months, preferably at a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius or higher.
