Origin
The Euphorbia dendroides, also known as the Tree Spurge, finds its origin in the Mediterranean countries and North Africa. It is a plant species that has adapted to dry and rocky conditions. It often grows in coastal areas, but can also be found on mountains up to a height of 1,200 metres.

Characteristics
The Euphorbia dendroides is a shrub that can grow into a small tree two to three metres high. The leaves are broad and spatulate, green in the summer and red in the autumn. The plant produces small yellow flowers from March to June. This plant has the remarkable characteristic that it drops its leaves to limit water loss during the warm and dry summer months.

Care
Euphorbia dendroides does not require much care due to its adaptations to dry climatic conditions. The plant needs a sunny location with well-draining soil. It is drought resistant and therefore does not require much water. Overwatering can lead to root rot. The plant benefits from an annual pruning in early spring to promote growth.
