Origin
The Begonia Rex Mix, is rooted in the warm and tropical climates of Northeast India. After this plant was discovered by British explorers in the 19th century, it was exported to Europe. Here, the plant received its official name in honour of King Louis-Philippe of France's son, the Duke of Orléans.
Characteristics
The Begonia Rex Mix is famous for its exotic and colourful leaves. These emit a variety of colours, ranging from green to pink, silver, red and purple. The surface of the leaves has a striking pattern of swollen, colourful veins, contributing to the unique appearance of the plant. Despite their remarkable beauty, Begonia Rex plants rarely produce flowers.
Care
The Begonia Rex Mix is a relatively simple plant to take care of, provided it is cared for correctly. They thrive best in indirect, bright light and require a temperature between 15 and 26 degrees Celsius to grow well. Overwatering should be avoided as the plant is sensitive to root rot. It is also important to keep the humidity level high, the plant loves high humidity.
