Origin
The Echeveria elegans, also known as the Mexican Snowball, has its origin in the dry mountainous landscape of Mexico. It belongs to the family of succulents and is therefore resistant to dry conditions. Its beauty makes it a popular choice in garden centres all over the world.
Characteristics
The Echeveria elegans is characterized by its thick, fleshy, blue-green leaves. These leaves grow in a rosette shape, forming a perfect circle when viewed from above. In late winter or early spring, this plant produces long stems with pink or red bell-shaped flowers, making it a popular choice for colourful gardens.
Care
The care of the Echeveria elegans primarily requires good drainage and plenty of sunlight. The plant needs well-drained soil and regular but moderate watering. Overwatering should be avoided at all times as it can cause root rot. To promote growth and flowering, a succulent fertiliser can be applied during the growing season.
