Origin
The Succulent mix is a variety of extremely drought-resistant plants, originally from dry, desert-like areas such as Africa and Central America. Thanks to their ability to store water in their fleshy leaves, trunks or roots, these plants are highly adapted to arid conditions. They have also been popularised by their low maintenance and diverse, attractive shapes.
Characteristics
Distinguishing features of the Succulent mix are their fleshy leaves and trunks. These have been specifically designed to store water for extended dry periods. Most succulents have a green colour but there are also species that display red, yellow, blue or even almost black hues. Some types can also bloom, making them an attractive addition to any interior.
Care
The care of the Succulent mix is relatively straightforward. They require plenty of sunlight and like well-draining soil. Watering is minimal and should only be performed when the soil is completely dry. They can withstand much heat and therefore survive well indoors, but they are not frost resistant and need to be brought inside during the winter. Repotting should only be done when the plant grows larger and needs more space.
