Origin
The Chorisia speciosa, also known as the bottle tree, is indigenous to the subtropical and tropical regions of South America. It is originally from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay, but has since spread worldwide in regions with a favourable climate.

Characteristics
The Chorisia speciosa is a striking deciduous tree that stands out for its thick, bottle-shaped trunk. This trunk is covered with large pointed thorns. The leaves are palmate and have the shape of a hand. Particularly striking are the beautiful, large flowers. These are pink in colour and have 5 petals.

Care
The Chorisia speciosa requires regular watering, but can also withstand periods of drought. They grow best in a sunny location and in well-draining soil. In colder climates, they need to be protected against freezing cold. It is recommended to fertilise the tree monthly during the growing season for optimal growth.
