DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Pilosocereus chrysostele is a cactus species belonging to the Cactaceae family. This unique plant has its origin in Mexico, where it grows in the dry regions of the desert areas. The species, also known as the Golden Rat Tail, has adapted to these dry, harsh conditions of its original habitat.

Characteristics
The Pilosocereus chrysostele is characterised by its long, slender, cylindrical stems that grow in an upward direction. The stems are closely covered with sharp, golden spines, hence the nickname Golden Rat Tail. This cactus species can eventually reach a height of around 90-120 cm. The unique thing about this plant is that during the adult phase it produces beautiful white flowers and red fruits, which is quite rare for cacti.

Care
The care of the Pilosocereus chrysostele requires some attention. Ideally, the plant should be placed in a location with plenty of light, but it cannot tolerate full sun. Furthermore, the plant needs poor, well-draining soil to stimulate healthy growth and prevent root rot. Water thoroughly and let the soil fully dry out between waterings. In the winter, the plant does not need water as it is in a resting phase. Although the plant is adapted to dry climates, a relative humidity of about 50-60% is optimal for the plant's growth and well-being.
