Origin
The Aloe Hybrid is a crossbreed of various Aloe species and although tracing its exact origin is difficult, the original species are predominantly native to Africa. South Africa and Madagascar are generally known as the places with the largest diversity of Aloe species. Consequently, the Aloe Hybrid is the result of careful selection and breeding.
Characteristics
Characteristic of the Aloe Hybrid are its green to blueish, often lightly speckled leaves that grow in rosette form. The leaves are succulent and can store water, an adaptation to its original, dry habitats. In addition, the Aloe Hybrid produces typical aloe flowers, these are tubular and vary in colour from red to orange and rarely yellow or white.
Care
In terms of the care for the Aloe Hybrid, it likes a sunny spot, but can also tolerate semi-shade. The potting soil must be well-drained to prevent root rot - a result of too much water. It is also important to note that the Aloe Hybrid is not frost-hardy and therefore must be protected from frost. A moderate watering is usually sufficient, taking into account less water during the winter months.
