Olea europaea
Stem
5OLEUR025
Origin
The Rhododendron yakushimanum 'Anuschka' is a variant of the Rhododendron species originally found on the Japanese island of Yaku. This specific variant was developed in Germany and bears the name of the breeder's daughter.
Characteristics
The 'Anuschka' displays unique characteristics within the Rhododendron family. It remains relatively low, with a mature height of about one meter. It has dark green, glossy leaves and blooms in late spring with striking pink flowers that cluster together. The 'Anuschka' is an evergreen variant, meaning its foliage remains on the bush all year round.
Care
The 'Anuschka' thrives best in partial shade to full sun and requires well-draining, acidic soil. It can tolerate drought, but for the best growth and blooming it should be watered regularly, especially during dry periods. It is advisable to give some Rhododendron feed in the spring, to promote growth and blooming. Pruning is generally not necessary, unless to control the shape of the plant or to remove dead or diseased branches.
