Origin
The Ginkgo biloba Jehoshaphat, also known as the Japanese nut tree, has a rich history dating back to prehistoric times. This species originates from East Asia, where it has been cultivated for its beauty and medicinal properties for thousands of years. Ancient cultures such as the Chinese and Japanese are believed to have viewed this tree as a symbol of unchangeability and immortality.

Characteristics
The Ginkgo biloba Jehoshaphat stands out because of its unique leaf structure. The leaves vary from yellow to green in colour and have a fan-shaped look. They are divided into two lobes, hence the name biloba, which means two lobes. The tree can reach a height of 20 to 30 meters. It produces fruit that resembles a plum and releases a characteristic, unpleasant smell.

Care
Ginkgo biloba Jehoshaphat is a sturdy, undemanding tree. It prefers sunny to lightly shady places and grows in almost every soil type, but thrives best in well-drained soil. It is resistant to polluted city air and drought. Although the tree is a slow grower in its early years, it can eventually reach an imposing size, which should be considered when planting. Regular watering is important for this tree, especially in dry weather conditions, however, overwatering or waterlogged conditions should be avoided.
