Festuca glauca 'Intense Blue'

Origin
The Microbiota decussata, also known as the Russian cypress, is an evergreen conifer that originates from eastern Russia. This plant predominantly grows in areas with a cool climate, such as high mountain ranges.
Characteristics
This is a low-growing, spreading shrub with scale-like pointed leaves that have a lovely bronze colour in winter. The plant has a slow growth rate, typically reaching a height of 20 to 30 centimeters and has a spread of one and a half meters. It produces small, round cones that are about the size of a pea.
Care
When caring for the Microbiota decussata it is important to plant it in well-drained soil, preferably with a relatively acidic pH. Although the plant is hardy to cold, it requires full sun for optimal growth. It is also worth noting that this plant is drought-tolerant once it is established, although regular, moderate watering is recommended during dry periods. Pruning is not usually necessary, unless one wants to control the shape.
