Origin
The Echeveria 'Orion' belongs to the family of the Crassulaceae and is originally from Mexico. This plant species tends to thrive in the semi-shade of rocky ravines. In the wild, these plants can be found at altitudes ranging from 1500 to 2500 meters.
Characteristics
The Echeveria 'Orion' is a succulent that is characterised by its sturdy, fleshy and elongated leaves. These leaves have a bright, blue-green colour that can discolour to pink when exposed to bright sunlight. The plant tends to form rosette-like groups. In spring and summer, the Echeveria 'Orion' bears brightly coloured flowers that stand on long stems.
Care
The Echeveria 'Orion' requires moderate watering and it is recommended to let the soil dry out between watering to prevent root rot. The plant prefers a place with a lot of light, but also tolerates semi-shade. It is important to keep the temperature above freezing point in winter, as the plant is not frost tolerant. It is advisable to fertilise Echeveria 'Orion' once a year at the start of the growing season.
