Origin
The Dieffenbachia maculata 'Camilla' originated in the rainforests of South and Central America. This popular houseplant belongs to the Araceae family and was named after the German horticulturist Ernst Dieffenbach.
Characteristics
The Dieffenbachia maculata 'Camilla' is characterized by its pointy, shiny leaves with cream white and light green patches. The plant is fast-growing and can reach a height of about one metre. The 'Camilla' variety is compact in shape compared to other species within the Dieffenbachia genus. When flowering, this plant generates small, white spear-shaped flowers.
Care
The Dieffenbachia maculata 'Camilla' requires a bright, but not directly sunny, location in order to maintain its distinctively speckled leaves. It is recommended to keep the plant's soil constantly moist, but not too wet to prevent root rot. During the growth period, typically spring and summer, the plant benefits from regular fertilization with a liquid plant food. In the winter, when the plant is dormant, less water and no fertilization is required.
