Origin
The Sedum reflexum, also known as stone orpine, is native to Europe. This succulent can primarily be found in areas with a temperate climate, such as Western and Central Europe. The plant is popular in Scandinavia and can also be found on rocky terrains on the British Isles.
Characteristics
The Sedum reflexum is characterised by its blue-green, needle-like leaves that are compactly pressed against the branches. The plant can grow to a height of 10 to 18 centimeters and has a width of 30 to 60 centimeters. In the summer, the Sedum reflexum blooms with yellow, star-shaped flowers that attract bees and butterflies. It's a hardy plant that can resist drought and severe winter conditions.
Care
The Sedum reflexum requires minimal care. The plant can grow in full sun as well as in partial shade and prefers well-drained soil. It is essential to avoid overwatering to prevent root rot. The plant doesn't have specific fertilisation needs and can also adapt to poor, rocky soils. As the Sedum reflexum is a slow-growing plant, it is not necessary to prune it regularly.
