Origin
The Ficus elastica 'Shivereana Moonshine' is a variant of the rubber tree and belongs to the Moraceae family. The plant has its origin in Southeast Asia but is also known in other tropical regions.
Characteristics
What is remarkable about the Ficus elastica 'Shivereana Moonshine' is the colour of the leaves, which vary between grey-green and white, with a waxy shine. The leaves are broad, thick and can become up to 30 centimetres long. The plant itself can grow a few meters in height and has a firm trunk. In addition, the air roots that the plant forms in optimal conditions can serve as supporting structures.
Care
The Ficus elastica 'Shivereana Moonshine' requires little maintenance and can be placed either in full sun or in a semi-shaded spot. However, the plant requires well-draining potting soil and the soil should dry out between watering sessions to prevent root rot. The plant performs best at temperatures between 15 and 24 degrees Celsius and requires high humidity. Prune the plant periodically to maintain a compact form and dust the leaves to promote optimal photosynthesis.
