Origin
The Acer palmatum 'Fire Glow' is a cultivar of the Acer palmatum, originally hailing from East Asia and particularly from Japan. It has been introduced and primarily grown in Western countries for use in gardens and parks due to its striking autumn colours.

Characteristics
The 'Fire Glow' is appreciated for its unique glowing red leaves which remain red throughout the entire growing season. This slow growing shrub can reach a height of 2 to 3 metres and grows in an upward conical shape. The colourful leaves are palm-shaped, becoming brighter and more intensely red with greater sun exposure. In autumn, the colour changes to a deep, almost purple red.

Care
Despite its exotic appearance, the Acer palmatum 'Fire Glow' is surprisingly easy to care for. The plant thrives in well-draining, slightly acidic soil and loves a place in the partial shade. Regular pruning will help maintain the shape and remove dead or unnecessary branches. Although the 'Fire Glow' is more resistant to drought than many other Acer varieties, it needs consistent watering, especially during hot summer months. Don't forget to give it some extra protection against frost during the winter in colder climates.
