DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Asparagus umbellatus, also known as Asparagus myriocladus, has its origin in South Africa. Here, the species is mainly found along the eastern coast, where it forms an integral part of the local flora. The plant primarily grows in sandy or rocky areas in this region, adjusting itself to the warm climate.

Characteristics
The Asparagus umbellatus is known for its fine, green stems that gracefully hang down. The stems are long and thin, adorned with small scale-like leaves that are closely packed, creating a 'fluffy' effect. Often, the plant is mistakenly identified as a fern due to its appearance, however, it belongs to the Asparagus family. In the summer, small white flowers may appear which could potentially develop into red berries.

Care
The Asparagus umbellatus prefers a light spot but without direct sunlight to prevent leaf scorch. It is a relatively low-maintenance plant that can be kept as an indoor or outdoor plant. Watering needs to be done on a regular basis, only after the soil completely dries out to avoid root rot. Throughout the growth period, the plant appreciates a weekly dose of a standard plant feed.
