Origin
The Echinocactus brevispina, also known as the 'Baby Foot Cactus', is a succulent originally from Mexico. It grows in the dry, rocky areas of Guanajuato and Queretaro and is well adapted to life in extreme drought.

Characteristics
The Echinocactus brevispina is a small, slow-growing, cylindrical cactus that can vary in diameter from 8 to 18 centimetres and in height from 4 to 30 centimetres. The plant is green and sprinkled with small, rounded bumps from which sharp thorns grow. Flowers on this cactus are rare, but when in bloom they are bright yellow flowers that appear in the summer.

Care
The Echinocactus Brevispina requires very little water, especially during the winter months to prevent rot. A well-drained soil is essential in helping remove excess moisture. The plant thrives best in areas with full sun to partial shade. As an indoor plant, you should place the cactus in the most brightly lit spot, for instance, on the southern windowsill. Generally, the Echinocactus brevispina requires little maintenance, which makes it an excellent choice for beginner gardeners or those with a busy lifestyle.
