DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Pachypodium lamerei, also known as the Madagascar Palm, has its origin in Madagascar. It specifically comes from the south of this remote island, where it grows in dry, hot climates. Initially, this plant was almost entirely confined to Madagascar, but has since become globally popular as a decorative houseplant.

Characteristics
The Pachypodium lamerei is unique due to its striking, trunk-like structure with thorns, reminiscent of a palm tree, hence the nickname. However, it is not a palm tree, but a succulent. In the summer, the plant produces large, white flowers. A mature Pachypodium lamerei can grow up to 6 metres high, although it usually stays smaller indoors.

Care
The Pachypodium lamerei needs full sun and well-draining soil. This plant is tolerant of drought and therefore needs little water. When kept indoors, it's important to ensure that excess moisture and cold are avoided. Its growing period is during the warmer months, therefore it's advisable to water it more during this period and less in the winter.
