Stem
4ARALRS02
Origin
The Dasylirion serratifolium originates from the northern and central parts of Mexico. This species of plant grows in the dry mountainous areas and deserts, where it is regularly exposed to both extreme heat and cold. It was the local population who first discovered and began to cultivate this plant.
Characteristics
The Dasylirion serratifolium, also known as the Desert Spoon, is an evergreen plant that can grow up to two metres tall. This species of plant is characterised by its long, narrow leaves that taper to a point and have a rope-like texture. Between spring and summer, the Dasylirion serratifolium produces a long, branched flower stem in which hundreds of small white flowers appear.
Care
The Dasylirion serratifolium is a low-maintenance plant. This species of plant largely requires a sunny location and well-draining soil. Moreover, the Dasylirion serratifolium requires little water and is drought-resistant. As this species of plant is resistant to low temperatures, the Dasylirion serratifolium also survives well outside during the winter months.
