Origin
The Bromelia Orange Family, also known as the Vriesea 'Splash', has its roots in the tropical regions of South and Central America. The plant is a member of the Bromeliad family, a diverse group of over 3000 species that thrive in various habitats across the entire continent.
Characteristics
The Bromelia Orange Family stands out for its vibrant, orange flowers and long, sword-shaped leaves. The plant often grows in a rosette shape that serves as a reservoir for water. The flowers are striking, often with bright colours and unique patterns. The Bromelia Orange Family is sometimes referred to as an epiphyte, which means it often grows on other plants or trees in the wild without parasitising them.
Care
Caring for the Bromelia Orange Family requires a light to semi-shady location without direct sunlight. The plant prefers temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius. Water should be provided in the centre of the plant, also known as the tube. Moreover, it is important not to over-fertilise the plant. A light feed once a month is sufficient.
