Origin
The Peperomia obtusifolia 'Lime', also known as the Baby Rubber Plant, has its origin in the tropical regions of South America. The genus Peperomia comprises over a thousand species, most of which are native to the tropical areas of Central and South America.
Characteristics
The Peperomia obtusifolia 'Lime' is characterised by its bright green, glossy, thick leaves that vary in colour from light to dark green. The plant's leaves are often oval in shape, with pointed ends. This species typically grows to a height of about 25 to 30 centimetres, and achieves a similar width. The 'Lime' variant is known for its bright, almost neon-like green colour that can add a vibrant hue to any interior.
Care
For the proper care of the Peperomia obtusifolia 'Lime', the plant needs to be placed in a well-lit area, but not in direct sunlight. This prevents the leaves from scorching. The plant thrives well in moderate temperatures and high humidity. Additionally, the potting soil must completely dry out between watering to prevent root rot. Finally, this plant has a slow growth rate and therefore does not require frequent fertilisation; once a month during the growing season is sufficient.
