Origin
The Sansevieria cylindrica 'Fernwood Mikado' originates from West Africa. It's a variety of the Sansevieria, a plant genus that predominantly grows in dry, rocky terrain. The genus was named after Prince Raimondo di Sangro, an 18th century nobleman from San Severo in Italy.
Characteristics
Distinctive features of the Sansevieria cylindrica 'Fernwood Mikado' are its long, cylindrical leaves. These are deep green in colour and have a wavy pattern that is unique to this variety. The plant grows slowly and can reach a height of nearly 1 metre. The Sansevieria cylindrica 'Fernwood Mikado' rarely blooms, but when it does, fragrant green flowers appear.
Care
The Sansevieria cylindrica 'Fernwood Mikado' requires little care. It prefers bright, indirect light but can also grow in semi-shade. Water the plant sparingly: once a month in the summer, and even less in the winter. The plant is very sensitive to overwatering. It is therefore important to ensure adequate drainage. The Sansevieria cylindrica 'Fernwood Mikado' doesn't have specific nutritional requirements and can grow in regular, well-drained potting soil.
