Origin
The Zamia furfuracea, better known as the Cardboard Palm, originates from the east of Mexico. This plant species is primarily found in the states of Veracruz and Tabasco. It is a species that has adapted to life in drier environments, meaning that it is resilient during periods of drought.

Characteristics
One of the most noticeable characteristics of the Zamia furfuracea is its leathery, almost cardboard-like leaves – hence its nickname 'Cardboard Palm'. The plant grows in a rosette shape and can grow to a diameter as well as a height of up to one meter. The leaves are thick and fleshy with a dark green colour. Unlike true palms, the Zamia furfuracea grows from a spherical swelling in the ground.

Care
Zamia furfuracea has a moderate need for water. Regularly water the plant, but ensure that the soil can dry out well between watering. Direct sunlight can burn the leaves of this plant, so place it in a location with indirect sunlight. The ideal temperature for this plant is between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius.
