Origin
The Zamioculcas zamiifolia 'Midori', also known as the ZZ plant, originates from East Africa. More specifically, the plant is native to the grasslands and forests of Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa. The plant was introduced to Western nurseries in the late 1990s.
Characteristics
The Zamioculcas zamiifolia 'Midori' is a green indoor plant with distinctive shiny, feathery leaves. These leaves are medium green in colour and grow from a thick, woody trunk. The plant can grow to a height of 60 to 90 cm. The leaves of the 'Midori' variant are longer and narrower than those of the standard Zamioculcas zamiifolia.
Care
The Zamioculcas zamiifolia 'Midori' is a very low maintenance plant. The plant prefers indirect, light and can tolerate drought well. A location in a light to semi-shaded position is ideal. The plant requires little water, especially in winter the watering needs to be reduced. The plant has few requirements for the soil type, but does require well-drained soil to prevent root rot.
