Origin
The Caladium is a plant species originally found in South America, specifically in the forests of Brazil and Guyana. It primarily thrives in warm, humid areas where it grows on the banks of rivers. This plant is also known as the Heart of Jesus due to its heart-shaped leaves.

Characteristics
The Caladium is known for its spectacular, heart-shaped leaves that can vary greatly in both colour and pattern. The leaves can range in colour from red, pink and white to various shades of green, often with contrasting veins. The plant typically grows between 40 and 60 cm in height. It doesn't have a specific flowering period, but can produce flowers throughout the year, which are cloak-like and light coloured.

Care

The Caladium requires a warm, bright location but does not thrive well in direct sunlight. It needs regular, but not excessive, watering. The soil should be allowed to dry out slightly between watering. In the winter, the plant retreats to gather energy for the next growing season, a stage when less water is needed. Finally, it's worth noting that this plant appreciates higher humidity.
