Origin
The Opuntia microdasys subsp. rufida, also known as the Red Bunny ears, originates from the dry and warm regions of North and Central Mexico. This species of plant has adapted to the desert climate, making it a popular ornamental plant in dry and warm climates around the world.

Characteristics
The Opuntia microdasys subsp. rufida is a member of the cactus family and like most cacti, it does not have leaves. It has flatter, spiky segments than many other cacti, which are grey-green with a red hue. It produces small, yellow-coloured flowers that later make way for purple fruits. The fruits and spikes of this plant are covered in tiny, almost invisible hairs that can be very irritating if touched.

Care
