DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Phalaenopsis Multiflora Optimost Amabilis Starrion, otherwise known as the Butterfly Orchid, has its origin in Southeast Asia. It is primarily found in the Philippines and Northern Australia. The Phalaenopsis is named after the Greek 'Phalaina', meaning moth, and 'opsis', meaning appearance, which refers to the resemblance of the flowers to tropical butterflies.

Characteristics
This variety of Butterfly Orchid is known for its beautiful flowers that can bloom all year round. The flowers are typically white, although there are also varieties with pink, yellow or striped flowers. It is an epiphytic plant, which means that in nature it grows on trees, deriving its nutrition from the air and rain. The leaves are fleshy and lance-shaped, while the blooming form is a cluster.

Care
The Butterfly Orchid requires specific care to grow well. The plant prefers a bright, warm environment, but not direct sunlight. Water should be given sparingly: only when the soil feels dry. Avoid any water accumulating in the heart of the plant to prevent rotting. A specific orchid fertiliser is recommended to stimulate flowering, and the plant needs high humidity.
