The Phalaenopsis Multiflora Optimost 'Amabilis Starrion' is a hybrid of various orchid species and is cultivated in the controlled environment of nurseries. The plant originates from the tropical regions of Asia, Australia and the Pacific whole Pacific region. This orchid is named after the Greek words 'Phalaina' (moth) and 'opsis' (resembling), referring to the shape of the flower which resembles a moth with outspread wings.
Characteristics
The Phalaenopsis Multiflora Optimost 'Amabilis Starrion' is known for its profuse, elegant flowers. The flowers, which can bloom all year round, have a white colour with subtle, pink details. The plant has fleshy, green leaves and the stems can reach a height of 60 cm to 120 cm. It is characterised by relatively long flowering periods compared to other orchids, which can last up to three months.
Care
The Phalaenopsis Multiflora Optimost 'Amabilis Starrion' is a heat-loving orchid, with an optimal temperature between 20°C and 27°C in the summer months and between 16°C and 19°C in the winter months. The plant thrives best in an environment with a humidity between 60% and 80%. Lastly, indirect light is ideal for the plant, whilst direct sunlight should be avoided. Regular, moderate watering is essential for healthy growth, while overwatering should be prevented to avoid root rot.
