F00003329
Origin
The Pinus koraiensis Silveray, also known as the Korean pine, originates from East Asia. This tree is primarily found in areas such as Korea, Manchuria, and Siberia. Its habitat ranges from the northeast of China to Korea.
Characteristics
The Pinus koraiensis Silveray is a slow-growing conifer that can reach a height of up to 20 meters. The tree is characterised by its silvery-grey needles that contrast beautifully with the often green surrounding vegetation. The cones of this pine are elongated and can grow up to 15 cm in length. The tree also stands out due to its bark which contrasts greatly with the soft silvery-grey needles, being dark brown to almost black and having deep grooves.
Care
The Pinus koraiensis Silveray requires minimal care and is well suited to colder climates, making it a good choice for harsher climates. It is best placed in full sun and prefers well-draining soil. This tree needs very little water and is drought-resistant. When planting, the eventual height and width of the tree should be taken into account to ensure sufficient room for growth. In general, this pine is not significantly affected by diseases or pests.
