Origin
The Hebe Frozen Flame ® is a variety of the hebe, a genus of plants that is primarily found in New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and South America. They are species that often occur in adjacent grasslands and have adapted to the climate conditions there. Named after the Greek goddess of youth, Hebe, these plants belong to the family of Scrophulariaceae or figworts.

Characteristics
What sets the Hebe Frozen Flame ® apart are the intensely coloured leaves that range from green to purple segueing into an interesting fiery red tip. This evergreen shrub can grow to a mature height of 50 to 75 centimetres. The flowers, which appear in the summer, provide a profuse white bloom. Unique to this plant is the striking change in leaf colour during the cold winter months.

Care
The Hebe Frozen Flame ® is a relatively easy plant to care for. This plant prefers a spot in partial shade or in full sun and needs well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. Watering should be moderate, with just slightly moist soil being sufficient. Pruning can take place after flowering to maintain the shape of the shrub. Some protection from hard wind and frost is recommended in winter.
