Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Nana Gracilis'
Stem
F00004381
Origin
The Pinus nigra Green Tower, otherwise known as the Austrian black pine, has its origin in the mountainous areas of Central Europe. Specifically, this tree has found the most success in Austria and the Balkan region, where it has adapted to various types of soil and climate conditions. It grows in high-altitude coniferous forests and is one of the main timber-producing pines in Austria.
Characteristics
The Pinus nigra Green Tower is distinguished by its slender, columnar growth habit. The tree can reach heights of up to 15 metres and can be 3-4 metres broad. This often hardy plant has a deep and extensive root system that is very robust. The needles are dark green and stiff, with each pair of needles potentially reaching 10 to 15 cm in length.
Care
The Pinus nigra Green Tower is a low-maintenance tree that adapts to most types of soil, provided they are well-drained. It tolerates full sun and partial shade but prefers a position in full sun. The tree has a strong drought resistance, so regular watering is not necessary. Pruning is usually not required but can be undertaken to manage shape and size.
