Origin
The Alocasia 'Silver Dragon' originates from the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia. Within this region, the plant is particularly found in Malaysia and Borneo. The plant belongs to the Araceae family, also known as the aroids.
Characteristics
The Alocasia 'Silver Dragon' is known for its striking silver-coloured leaves, which have a unique vein structure, giving them almost dragon-like appearance. The leaves can grow up to 30 centimetres long. In optimal conditions, the plant can grow to a height of about 1 metre. The 'Silver Dragon' is a fast-growing plant that produces leaves all year round.
Care
Caring for the Alocasia 'Silver Dragon' requires some attention. Ideally, the plant should be placed in a light location, but not in direct sunlight. The plant prefers high humidity, which can be simulated by regularly spraying the plant with water. The soil in which the plant stands should be moist, but not soaked. During the winter months, moderate watering is sufficient as the plant is less active during this period.
