Origin
The Anthurium andraeanum 'Joli' belongs to the family of the Araceae and is originally from Colombia and Ecuador. Just like other members of the Anthurium genus, the 'Joli' naturally grows in the humid, shady environment of the rainforest. In its natural habitat, it grows as an epiphyte, meaning that it grows on other plants without extracting nutrients from them.
Characteristics
The Anthurium andraeanum 'Joli' can be recognised by its characteristic shiny, heart-shaped leaves and brightly coloured bracts, which are often pink or purple. The plant has a dense, upright growth, a compact and shrubby shape. The 'Joli' distinguishes itself by its flowering habit and the flowering period; it blooms all year round, with a peak during the summer months and has striking, long stringy flowers. Antherium andraeanum 'Joli' is also known as Flamingo plant.
Care
The care for the Anthurium andraeanum 'Joli' requires a location with plenty of indirect sunlight, but it cannot handle direct sunlight well. The plant prefers a constant temperature of around 20 degrees Celsius. It is recommended to water her regularly, but the soil should be allowed to dry out somewhat between waterings to prevent root rot. Likewise, the 'Joli' requires a high humidity, which can be mimicked by regularly spraying the leaves with water. Fertilising once or twice a month during the growing season can promote growth and blooming.
