Gasteria 'D Tiga' 6/tray
4GADTBP10
Origin
The Kalanchoe beharensis 'Oak Leaf', also recognised as the feltbush, is a succulent originally from Madagascar. This exotic plant is often found in the drier scrublands and light forests of south-western Madagascar. In its native country, this species is protected, since it's rare and predominantly confined to very specific habitats.
Characteristics
With distinctive leaves resembling oak leaves, the Kalanchoe beharensis 'Oak Leaf' rightly assumes its name. These leaves are thick and sport a grey-green hue, covered in a layer of hairs which make them feel velvety. The plant can grow to approximately 1 meter in height and 0.8 meters in width. Under favourable conditions, the plant blooms with hanging clusters of brown-orange bell-shaped flowers.
Care
To survive in its natural habitat, the Kalanchoe beharensis 'Oak Leaf' has adapted to dry conditions and will therefore thrive in well-draining soil and requires relatively little water. Overwatering should be avoided as this can cause root rot. To bloom, this plant needs lots of light, but should be protected from direct sunlight in the summer. It's also resistant to temperature fluctuations but preferably should not dip below 10 degrees Celsius.
