Origin
The Trichocereus terscheckii, also known as the Argentine saguaro, is a cactus species originally from South America. Its main habitat lies in the Andes Mountains, ranging from Argentina to Bolivia. The plant is well adapted to living in a dry and harsh climate, with altitude differences of up to 2500 meters.
Characteristics
Trichocereus terscheckii is one of the largest cacti in the world and can reach heights of 10 meters. The plant is distinguished by its cylindrical, green-colored trunks that are covered with long, sharp thorns. In the summer months, it produces large, white funnel-shaped flowers. The fruit of the Trichocereus terscheckii is small, green, and juicy and contains tiny black seeds.
Care
Trichocereus terscheckii requires minimal care. As a desert cactus, it requires well-draining soil and needs to be watered when the top 2-3 centimeters of soil is dry. It thrives in lots of sunlight and can handle too much light better than too little. In winter, the cactus can withstand cold temperatures down to -10° C, but it's wise to protect the cactus from harsh, persistent frost.
