Origin
The Tephrocactus geometricus is a rare cactus species that only exists in the wild in specific regions of Argentina. More specifically, this plant is found in the provinces of Catamarca and La Rioja, in the northwest of the country. The natural habitat of the Tephrocactus geometricus is a very dry and rocky area. The cactus has perfectly adapted to these harsh conditions.

Characteristics
The Tephrocactus geometricus is characterised by its geometric spherical segments. These segments are blue-grey in colour and are covered with woolly hairs. The plant blooms in the spring and summer with beautiful white flowers that appear on the tops of the segments. The flowers of this cactus are unique as they appear per segment and can change the shape of the cactus during the blooming period.

Care
When caring for the Tephrocactus geometricus, consideration needs to be given to its natural habitat. The cactus requires a well-draining soil to prevent root rot. In the summer months, the Tephrocactus geometricus needs full sun and regular watering. In the winter months, the plant should be kept dry at a minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius.
