Senecio Cephalophorus
F00000370
Origin
The Haworthia herbacea originates from South Africa, specifically from the Western Cape province. In its natural environment, they grow on the rocky plains of the Little Karoo region. The plant finds its origin in the fynbos vegetation type, where the annual rainy season takes place in winter.
Characteristics
The Haworthia herbacea is a type of succulent, known for its fleshy, elongated leaves. These leaves can further be recognised by their bright green colour and the translucent stripes at the ends. The plant usually does not grow larger than 15 centimetres in diameter. In late spring or early summer, the plant produces small white flowers on long stems.
Care
The Haworthia herbacea requires little water, just like other succulents. Watering should occur when the soil is completely dry. Place the plant in a light location, but avoid direct sunlight. Well-draining potting soil is essential to prevent root rot. In winter, the plant needs to be protected against temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius. It is scientifically known as Haworthia herbacea, but is sometimes also referred to as Herb's Haworthia.
