Origin
The Acer palmatum 'Linearilobum' originates from East Asia, mainly in Japan, Korea and China. The plant is part of the very large and diverse Acer or Maple family, which knows hundreds of different species. Acer palmatum 'Linearilobum', also known as the Japanese maple, is one of the better-known representatives.
Characteristics
The Acer palmatum 'Linearilobum' is known for its striking slender and deeply incised leaves. During the spring and summer these leaves are green in colour, but in autumn they change into attractive orange-red hues. The Japanese maple hooks a compact, upright growth habit and can reach a final height of about four meters. The flowers of the plant are small and inconspicuous.
Care
Japanese maples require relatively little maintenance, but several specific care steps are recommended. It is best to place the Acer palmatum 'Linearilobum' in a location with filtered sunlight and shelter from strong wind. The plant processes regular, moderate watering and needs a well-draining soil to prevent root rot. Although pruning is not necessary, light form pruning can enhance the aesthetic appeal of the plant.
