DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Citrus paradisi 'Lipo', also known as the white grapefruit, originated in Barbados. This plant is the result of a spontaneous mutation from the 'Duncan' grapefruit in the early 20th century. Over the years, the cultivation of this plant has spread worldwide, particularly in countries with a tropical or subtropical climate.

Characteristics
The Citrus paradisi 'Lipo' is a decidouous, woody shrub or small tree that usually grows up to 5-6 metres in height. The plant is clad with leathery, elliptical leaves that have a rich green colour. This type of grapefruit is known for its large, pale yellow fruits with a diameter of 10 to 15 cm. The pulp inside is white, juicy, and relatively sweet compared to other grapefruit varieties.

Care
The Citrus paradisi 'Lipo' requires full sun and well-drained soil for optimal growth. As this type of plant is not frost resistant, it should be brought inside in areas that are susceptible to freezing. Despite its tropical origin, the plant shows some drought resistance, although regular watering and adequate humidity benefit the plant's health and wellbeing. For the best fruit production, the 'Lipo' should be fertilised annually.
