Origin
The Vriesea Intenso Red, also known as the 'Flaming Sword', is a type of plant originally from the rainforests of Central and South America. In these warm and humid climates, they thrive in the shelter of larger trees and plants, often growing on their trunks or branches.
Characteristics
The Vriesea Intenso Red is a popular houseplant due to its striking appearance. It stands out for its bright, red flower which rises above the dark green leaf deck and this can bloom for up to six months. The plant has long, smooth leaves that grow in a rosette formation around the central flower. Despite its exotic appearance, the Vriesea Intenso Red is relatively compact and fits easily on a windowsill or desk.
Care
The Vriesea Intenso Red requires relatively little maintenance. It prefers a warm, well-lit environment, but cannot handle direct sunlight. Watering is necessary when the soil feels dry, but it's important to prevent the plant from becoming too waterlogged, as this can cause root rot. While the Vriesea Intenso Red is resilient to a variety of environments, it performs best at a temperature between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.
