Origin
The Vriesea Stream is a plant species that originates from the tropical climate of Central and South America. The plant belongs to the Bromeliaceae family and is named after the Dutch botanist Willem Hendrik de Vriese.
Characteristics
The Vriesea Stream is an epiphytic plant, which means that it grows on the branches and trunks of other plants without drawing nutrients from them. The plant is characterised by its broad, long leaves that have a green colour with subtle brown stripes. The Vriesea Stream is remarkable for its spectacular flowering, with extended, brightly coloured bracts that stand out amid the green leaves.
Care
The Vriesea Stream requires specific care conditions because of its tropical origin. It needs a light location, but not in direct sunlight, as the leaves can then scorch. The plant requires high humidity, which can be achieved by regularly misting the plant. Water the plant once every two weeks during the growth period, from April to October. During the rest period, from November to March, once a month is sufficient. Make sure the soil dries out slightly between waterings.
