F00000521
Origin
The Hoya krohniana, also known as the Krohn's Hoya, originates from the Philippines. It belongs to the Apocynaceae family and is within the Hoya genus. The plant was named in honour of a German gardener, Krohn, who first introduced the plant to Europe.
Characteristics
The Hoya krohniana is a hanging, vine-like plant. It can grow up to 2 metres in length with small, oval, dark-green leaves approximately 2.5 centimetres long. The plant produces striking clusters of star-shaped flowers. These flowers are white in colour with a central pink corona and are known for their honey-like fragrance.
Care
The Hoya krohniana is relatively easy to care for and as a result is popular with older and novice gardeners. It requires plenty of bright, indirect light, and can even withstand some direct sunlight. The plant prefers moist but well-draining soil and should be watered when the top layer of soil is dry. It thrives in average room temperature and cannot withstand frost.
