Origin
The Adenium Obesum, also known as the desert rose, has its origin in the sub-tropical and tropical areas of East Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. It is a plant species from the Apocynaceae family. Over the years, the species has spread to areas with similar climatic conditions.
Characteristics
The Adenium Obesum is a perennial plant with noticeable thick trunks and branches, which often classifies it as a succulent. The plant produces large, striking flowers, usually in shades of pink, red and white, which strongly contrast with its dark green leaves. The flowering usually takes place during the warmer months. The plant can grow to a height of 1 to 3 meters.
Care
The Adenium Obesum requires little maintenance and is well adapted to dry conditions. The plant requires full sun for good growth and flowering. In the summer and spring, the plant should be regularly watered, but only minimally in the autumn and winter. This plant species prefers well-draining soil to prevent root rot. An annual pruning after flowering promotes strong and healthy growth for the following year.
