Origin
Armeria maritima 'Splendens', also known as the thrift, is an evergreen plant that originates from the cool, northern coastal areas of the northern hemisphere. These areas include parts of Europe, North America, and Asia. The plant is particularly adapted to saline, sea air and rocky soils that are typical for coastal areas.

Characteristics
The Armeria maritima 'Splendens' is a low-growing, bushy plant that can reach heights of 10 to 30 centimetres. This type of thrift is characterised by long, narrow leaves that are light green to dark green in colour. During the bloom period, which usually falls between May and August, the plant produces striking, globe-shaped flower heads with colourful petals that range from pink to purple.

Care
The care of the Armeria maritima 'Splendens' requires a place in full sunlight and well-draining, dry soil. Watering is usually only necessary during prolonged drought periods. Too much water can lead to root rot, so moderate watering is essential. Always ensure swift drainage to prevent water accumulation.
