Origin
The Thuja occidentalis 'Brabant', otherwise known as the 'Brabant' Arborvitae, originates from North America. This species belongs to the Cypress family and has been widely used in Europe for hedge planting since the 16th century.
Characteristics
The Thuja occidentalis 'Brabant' is an evergreen conifer with scale-like needles. It's known for its dense, cone-shaped growth habit and can reach a height of about 6 metres. The bark of the tree is reddish-brown and peeling, and it produces small cones when mature.
Care
Taking care of the Thuja occidentalis 'Brabant' requires regular pruning to maintain the dense, cone-shaped form. The plant prefers fertile, well-drained soil and a sunny to semi-shaded location. Although it is resistant to cold temperatures, the tree should be provided with ample water during dry periods.
